What is going on with landlords? Seriously, did they forget how to be human? Like, why have they all agreed that a one-bedroom can't be lower than like $1,600? All they do is paint over literally everything and then never fix anything. Am I crazy for thinking that? One time a landlord tried to up my rent by $1,200 and I emailed her back explaining how that was incredibly steep and she responded, “You have to understand, it's really hard for landlords right now with interest rates.” This woman has 40+ other properties… I almost punched my computer screen. Instead, I calmly sent her a bill for all of the repairs we did out of our own pocket that year (yes, I amped them up as much as possible) and told her she could pay that $1,000+ bill and then pay for the monthly upkeep as well, which would be another $1,000+ dollars a month. Or she could not raise the rent and we would continue to care for those things ourselves. She decided to raise the rent by only $200, which is still annoying, but like, gotta take what you can get in the world of renters these days… Anyways, here are some memes I have gathered after that frustrating exchange with my landlord and I hope other renters who feel my frustration get a LOL out of them.
